We straight up hooping

 Ayyyy what's good? I hope y'all are having a wonderful start to your week. Not too much crazy this week, just a typical Memphis week

  We had a good week with regards to finding and teaching. We found Tee and his wife Martha by knocking their door, the first time we knocked though she said "yeah I'm interested but come back later, I'm drinking." Next week we go by again, same response. 3rd times the charm and she let us in, we taught the Restoration and they liked it. Super cool lesson and they said they would start studying the Book of Mormon together.

   We had a very cool Thursday this week. We have a Ward Basketball night, we use this to invite people we meet to come play at the church. It's a super easy way to get non-members to the church in a natural way. We had a guy bring 4 of his friends and we balled up with them and a few others from our ward. The guy we invited was really good at dribbling and it was fun to watch, I say watch because he was on my team but anyway, the dude played hard and one of the members got absolutely drooped by his skills. The guy was really nice though he was apologizing as he laid it up. It was very nice to get to know them, they even want to learn more about our beliefs and take us to dinner!

  We did go into a very sketchy neighborhood though, we rolled up into these apartments and there was a ton of people outside, seemed normal at first but... cars were everywhere blasting rap and people were running up to cars and exchanging money. I'm pretty sure they were doing drug deals, then a guy just walked into his house with a rifle very casually. Then on top of that a group of young adults hollered at us and started hitting on us. Then a security van pulled up and told us to come talk to em, we went to see what they wanted. They told us to leave because it was dangerous, they said it looked like we didn't belong there. We took their advice and left. But man that was really sketchy, we went into our Area Book and marked that place as dangerous. That was the first time my companion had to do that on his entire mission. It was pretty bizarre. 

   Other than that it's been a grind, we're trying to find 6 people a week, it's a hard number to pull but it's very possible. We've done it once and we're gonna do it again. 

   That's the end of it this time, staying positive and always looking to improve

And no it's not because of the mission that I'm learning so much, at the end of the day it's up to you to decide if you want learn, you have to make the choice to listen and seek. Life has been so much more enjoyable when I let God prevail, trust in Him, and live His Gospel. By doing those things, no matter what happens to me in this life... I know for a fact where I'm going to end up. Knowing that allows me to have more confidence in my actions. I know I've been out serving for like 2 months but it's changed my mindset, I know the importance of this work. It's just up to time/experience to shape me, which I will have plenty of...   Anyway thought over, don't let the title of the email worry you, I'm perfectly fine, my companion on the other hand... just kidding....

Thrown for a loop Helloooo! It's another Monday, a hype day and another fantastic start to yet another week. This week has honestly been a bit of a struggle but exciting none the less.   I've run into some bike problems, nothing too big just some flats. The main issue was... when we fixed up the tire I went to ride it to an appointment, it worked just as it should. When we got ready to ride back I check my tires and it's flat again. I have no clue how it happened but the brand new tube lasted about 10 minutes haha. I never got the chance to check the tube for holes because my tire was flat and we were a 30 minute walk away from our apartment. I had a hand pump on me so we biked, stopped to pump, biked, stopped to pump. But as I was riding, I was about to get off and pump it up again, then it popped... yeah my flat tire popped. I saw white dust come out, from that point it held no air. I later found out the part where the valve attaches to the tube tore open. We had to wait ...

 Jeez Louise, Humidity... Wahooooo! Another week on the grind, having fun, learning, improving, and serving the Lord. Sounds like a pretty dope week to me To start things off, we got a new bishop, which is quite sad. We had Bishop Singleton for almost 8 years. I really wonder how it'll affect the ward. We went from an all black bishopric to an all white one, which obviously doesn't matter to me, unfortunately that image paints a different picture in others heads. It was nice seeing black people up there every week, especially for our friends we invite to church. Just gives a different environment. Speaking of race a lot of people in our ward like to see a white and a black (I'm mixed but you get the picture... Hopefully haha) in a companionship, they honestly think it's better... because... a lot of people will not answer/harshly judge if 2 white people show up, and the same for 2 black people.
