Attack of the dogs
Hey, Hey, it's the start of another beautiful week. More life experiences await, and stories to tell. It's so cool to gain knowledge and learn each and everyday. And no it's not because of the mission that I'm learning so much, at the end of the day it's up to you to decide if you want learn, you have to make the choice to listen and seek. Life has been so much more enjoyable when I let God prevail, trust in Him, and live His Gospel. By doing those things, no matter what happens to me in this life... I know for a fact where I'm going to end up. Knowing that allows me to have more confidence in my actions. I know I've been out serving for like 2 months but it's changed my mindset, I know the importance of this work. It's just up to time/experience to shape me, which I will have plenty of...
Anyway thought over, don't let the title of the email worry you, I'm perfectly fine, my companion on the other hand... just kidding. I'll tell you the story. We were just riding to go visit some people, my comp was in front and we were really just riding. Up ahead there was a dog chilling on the side of the road. When the dog saw us he started barking. When my comp got close to the dog, the dog darted across the road right in front of my comp's bike. My comp hit the dog... it was like he rode into a brick wall, he tumbled off the bike and braced himself with his hands. He didn't break anything he just got bruised and scraped his hands. The surface area of the wounds were pretty big so he had to wear bandages on both hands. He said it looked like he had leprosy. The dog on the other hand wasn't phased, he just ran home.
The owner came out the house and was really sorry and felt bad, we invited her to church and I guess we'll see what comes of it.
The worst part of it wasn't witnessing it, I mean it happened really fast but I saw everything. Cleaning the wounds though, yikes. His hands were so dirty and he had to clean em before wrapping them up. He started by scrubbing with a wet rag. The pain was too much so he asked me to do it. He told me to do it good so we could get it clean in 1 go. So on his cue I cleaned em real quick. Then we did the same thing but with an alcohol wipe. Obviously I couldn't feel the pain but I know it hurt an absolute ton.
Other than that our week was actually really good... statistic wise (my weeks are always good). We found 6 new people to teach and had great contacts. We're also working with a member to get their 9 year old baptized.
Here's her story... she is a part of a really active family, her names D'kirea Boyd and she lives with her parents in her grandma's home. The Taylor/Banks/Boyd's family is super fun and awesome. The kids love the missionaries and we love hanging out with them. She was interviewed for baptism about a year ago when she was 8. The bishop said she wasn't ready, fast forward to a couple weeks ago, she was interviewed again, this time bishop said yes. Well they just never got to schedule a baptism service, then she turned 9 May 24th. Since she's 9, she has to go through missionaries. So we'll have a baptism here real soon!
The end of my first transfer is tomorrow and I can't believe its here already. This next one is gonna be amazing and full of growth and blessings.
That's all this time around, all of you have a good enjoyable week. Don't forget to smile!
This week...
We Straight
This is another way to say we're good. It's very common and it was confusing at first. I guess it makes sense, cuz an object that's bent or broken is no good, but an object that is good is straight with no deformities.
Until next time...
PEACE!!!
