Welcome to the hood

Oh my goodness, what an amazing past few days! I'm only a few days in the field but, I already know this mission is fantastic!

Let's start with my last few days at the MTC... the last 3 days were kinda hard NGL. Me and my companion were the last ones "scheduled" to leave. I say that because someone in our district got his appendix removed so he got extended about a week. But saying goodbye to such close friends 1 at a time over the course of 3 days was tough. IDK what it was, just sad but I absolutely loved my MTC experience, the teachers, the lessons, everyone being so nice, saying hi to everyone, it was just the best. The environment was so peaceful and happy. I've never wanted to go to class so badly I loved the discussions and took such meaningful notes. I'm definitely gonna remember these awesome times and friends that got me on my feet.

The 2 flights were really fun. I love planes, it's like a ride at a park, I just love it! Our second flight was delayed 4 hours due to weather conditions. We just hung out at the airport, it was aight.

We arrived at Little Rock at like 10:00PM so we just went to bed at a mission home or somethin ( there was 8 of us there). The next day though was heeeaaat! It was like 6 hours of orientation but it was really useful info. We had chocolate gravy and biscuits for breakfast and let me tell ya, it straight up was chocolate... like... liquid chocolate on biscuits, mmm so good. But anyway we had lunch too. It was poppy seed sliders (which is like a mini ham and cheese sandwich) used to have em all the time at home, so that was a good reminder of home.

After orientation we got assigned our area and trainer and went straight to work. It's a very different in the field but ima get used to it. I'm at Memphis!!! The first area I got is "Memphis 1st" it's just outside of downtown Memphis and it is crazy, like wow. 3 days in and I've already encountered a gun, it wasn't pulled on us, the kid was actually really nice the only reason I saw it was because he gave it to his brother to put in the house because he wasn't comfortable carrying it around us. Which is dope. The kid was 18 years old BTW, we shoot hoops with em and him and his bro were really cool and open, he showed us a hood came called curbball. Which is super simple, you just need a ball and a street. You throw the basketball at the curb on the other side of the street and if it comes back to you, you score. Simple. First to 10

This place is so cool though, like for real. So many people are chillin outside and chattin to all sorts of people, in fact they're so chatty they yell at each other from across the street to have conversations.

The dogs are pretty scary sometimes, there are a decent amount of strays but some are pretty nice. We found a doggy that was skidish but after a little bit he got somewhat comfortable and started to gnaw on our shoes, in the nicest way possible.

Another crazy thing is that there's a church everywhere you look, the thing is each one is it's own church that does their own thing. This makes it very hard to teach cuz well say somethin like, wanna hear a message about Jesus.... "nope I've got Jesus" but there's more to Jesus, a whole nother book all about him.... "Nope I've got Jesus" haha so funny sometimes!! They've like all been baptized in some way already too. I haven't talked a whole lot about baptism yet cuz I just started but it's difficult.

With all that being said me and Elder Curtis (my trainer) have found some awesome people to teach. They are so nice and open to new things, we've been teachin them and they say it's all startin to make sense now. They're so interested in what we have to say, so cool!

Sorry y'all I have so much to say, but only 1 day a week to say it, so I apologize for the length but I'm doing awesome! I love talking to these people, there's so much to do and work on, time just flies. I hope y'all are doing well and wish y'all the best. Happy Easter (yesterday)!!! We had a good one here, had lunch and dinner with some members, plenty of food. We even got a little bag full of treats and a bunny nerf blaster thing, so nice of them.

I'm sill working on pics, I actually have some this week, keep reminding me to take em please. If ya got any questions please ask, I'd love to answer em

  PS...
The driving is absolutely bonkers here, so many people speed. There's multiple wrecks almost every day.  I see cop lights multiple times a day as well, just so many lost souls. The wrecks are not casual either, the cars get destroyed, debris is absolutely everywhere. It's definitely different here but it's all part of the process.

I'm also learning so many words and phrases this week is...

 "Boushey"
No clue how to spell it but it's pronounced boo-shc-e

Love y'all have an awesome week and don't forget to smile...

Until next time...
