Locked and Loaded
Hello! This week blew by, I guess I was just so focused on the work time just passed on by. I definitely enjoyed it though, we had a mission tour this week. It's a zone conference with a general authority present. We had Elder Meredith and I liked him. He was very lively and funny.
We had to push back a baptism for a 9 year old we're teaching, we have a couple more lessons we have to teach her and our bishop wants to invite people to attend. Her family is really active and she has a decent memory. When we teach her, there are about 5 kids the parents have sit in. These kids are super fun but it's hard for them to focus sometimes. We have some object lessons we use to try to get them to focus. I love teaching them and they love the missionaries, they always want to ride our bikes because they haven't seen a bike so big before. Their whole family is just fun.
The crazy part of my week was visiting a member's home. They love the missionaries but they haven't come to church since covid. We stop by every once in a while, we're trying to get them back to church. But they are profound on food storage and emergency preparation. They have a massive food storage that'll last them for years, all kinds of equipment that works without electricity, and even oil lamps. They showed us some pretty cool stuff, like a Wood stove and their collection of weapons. They are actually stacked with guns. The member's husband, Charles, loves his guns. He had a 9 mm that was packed with attachments. He called it the 101 Dalmatians haha, cuz he has 2 50 mags plus the loaded one. He also has a window breaker barrel that's spiky. He has a bright flashlight on there as well. He has a setting that flashes really fast, he said he's gonna come out with that because then they can't see, so they won't be able to tell he's armed. He had a m14, sks (this thing had a 200 round mag) and many pistols, including some revolvers. His favorite was a $1,300 pistol. The gun was very sleek and the rounds were massive, holy Smokes it was crazy. He also had a pentagon mag, it was a place holder for 5, 10 round mags. It's shaped like a star, the reason for this is because it's illegal for you to have more than a 10 round mag for this certain gun, well this breaks the system so he snagged it haha.
Charles was quite the character. He was funny and told some funny stories, we've met with this member 3 times now but that was the first time Charles was there. I liked meeting him but his wife is the member, Charles isn't a member and all the guns he was showing us were loaded... plus, again, it was our first time meeting him, so it was a little unsettling. Overall very cool visit
We played a game with our calling one day. We called people for 2½ hours. We got 1 point if they answered. 2 more if you set up an appointment, and 5 more if you teach doctrine and make them a new person in our teaching pool. It was actually really fun, I was winning in the beginning but I got recked in the end. I think it was 4 to 11. Nobody answered my calls haha.
That's the gist of my week, sorry for the delayed email. I love this work and feel so blessed being a part of it, things are rough sometimes but that's what makes things smooth. So I'm going to keep my head up and keep going forward. I really am learning so much. I hope y'all have a good week and don't forget to smile!
This week...
Walkover
This is kinda trash talk but people say this when a task is insanely easy.
Until next time...
Bye!
